Almost famous

Having moved to Singapore to further my career in journalism, you'll be pleased to hear that I've already made it into The Straits Times (Singapore's main national daily).


No, I haven't changed my name to Jessica Jaganathan. Look at the photo. Left hand side. At the back. There you go.

Not quite what I was aspiring to but a start nonetheless.

Friday was an important milestone in the life of Diary of an Ang Mo. I was introduced to someone who said "Oh you're Dave. I've read your blog."

"That's funny. Which bits?"

"All of it. I know everything about you."

Well it's nice to have a fan club. Perhaps I should get some branded clothing made up. Maybe some other souvenirs too - mugs and the like. Get your orders in early to avoid the rush at Christmas.

Speaking of fans of the blog ... it has been brought to my attention that you can add it to your RSS feeds so that you get notified as soon as I put up a new post. I suggest that you find a way to hook this up to your mobile - maybe even a chip in your brain, technology permitting - just in case the unfortunate situation arises where you're not at your computer when I add a new post. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect you to get home and read it within ten minutes of posting.

I won't name the friend of mine who told me about the RSS feed (his geeky secret, he called it) but I would like to share the following quote:

"I think it is safe to say that the highlight of my life is hearing about yours."

That tickled me. Might not surprise you to hear he's a law student. Guesses on the comments page please. Winners get a fish head curry in the post.
